Attacks on your property rights

As a property owner, beware the communities that want to infringe on your property rights

property rightsI am a big fan of property rights. It should be ridiculously hard for any government to take your property and infringe on your use of that land in any way. Don’t for a minute think that this sort of thing is limited to eminent domain – as we will see, there are communities where governments will try to control your land without even going to the trouble of exercising eminent domain.

On todays show we are going to look at a couple of amazing stories of property owners and investors who are being forced to fight for their property rights in the face of governments that want to decide for them what can and cannot be done with their land. For you investors, knowing the communities where the cities are most likely to control or dictate your investment could save you a whole lot of heartache!

Panoramic shot from the balcony of my rental.

Welcome to it folks and today, I am going to share with you what I believe is the single biggest inside tip for vacation rental landlords. I literally believe that this one tip WILL make the difference between failure and success. Or, to phrase it another way, the difference between making money and losing it.

It has been just over a year since I acquired my vacation rental property in Hawaii. For you longer time listeners, you know the details as I have used it as tool to share with you what I have learned while going through the process.

As I have mentioned before, I like to do a yearly review of things and I was working through one of those with this property. The realization I came to as a result of this was nothing short of burst of clarity that everyone should be aware of who wants to become a real estate investor or real estate entrepreneur.

So take a listen! This is a big one!

Where are they building the most apartments?

Will this solve the demand problem?

The good news is that more apartments are being built in  2016 than at any other time in the last 10 years. The bad news is that for some areas, it still will not be enough to satisfy demand.

Today, we will talk about the top 10 cities that are adding apartments. We will compare that to the list of the most expensive places to live and see how much cross over there is between the two. However, this is great data for trying to figure out how the rental scene might be changing in your area. Whether you are just looking to get your rent lowered or you are a investor trying to get a feeling for which way rents are going, this is the kind of data you need.
